Hi Andrea – The trailhead for the Ballantine Trail and the Pine Creek Loop is about half an hour away (by car) from Fountain Hills as you’re driving north toward Payson.

I enjoyed seeing this trail for the first time. You chose an interesting collection of plants. How close were you to that snake?

Probably not quite as close as it looks. I cropped the photo a fair amount.
