Linda, Nancy, and I hiked an 8.4 mile loop starting from the Tom’s Thumb Trailhead. Amy joined us for the first part of the hike.

A nice “soft” color tone for a springtime hike:) Always enjoy your “take” on familiar sites. Thank you!

I used +1 EV for the exposure compensation on the hummingbird shot. As usual, there was a good deal of post-processing too.

Lovely pics! You must have used a really long lens to capture the rabbit closeup

Kevin says:
I shot the rabbit using a Sony HX90V at maximum zoom. This is equivalent to 720mm on a full frame camera. But, since the HX90V is a small pocket camera, the actual focal length is 123mm.
I used the same camera and amount of zoom for the hummingbird, though for that shot, I cropped it even more than I did the bunny.
The rest of the shots in this post were taken using a Sony RX100 III. It has a larger sensor and better lens than the HX90V, though it’s only slightly bigger and heavier than the HX90V. The RX100 can also output RAW files while the HX90V is limited to outputting JPEG files. So, of the two, I prefer the RX100 for shots in the (35mm equiv) focal length range of 24mm to 70mm. But for most wildlife, 70mm is much too short to get close – which is why I carry a second camera.
