La Sals, Castle Valley, and Cows!

We saw a lot of cows on our drive up to the La Sals. There was a good view of Castle Valley at one of the pull outs.

We could see the La Sals all the way up. Late in the day, Marilyn and I drove the Kokopelli Trail on our way to the Castle Valley Overlook. We got this shot of Castle Valley while still driving the trail. We saw more cows. I had to open and shut a gate at one point along the way.

There were a lot of flowers along the trail.

We took these photos from the Castle Valley Overlook, which turned out to be a campground too.

Tower Arch Hike

These are photos from the hike to and from Tower Arch. I posted photos of Tower Arch separately.

I took this shot shortly after leaving the parking area. If you look closely, you can see Marilyn and Marie ahead of me.

The hike goes up a steep section of slickrock. Fortunately, slickrock isn’t all that slick – it’s actually quite grippy with the right kind of sole.

We saw this spotted lizard underneath a tree.

This shot was taken from Tower Arch. Monitor and Merrimack Buttes are visible in the far distance.

We hiked through a narrow passage when leaving Tower Arch.

Private Arch

This is a view of the fin (in the distance) which is on the trail to Double O Arch. We stood on a fin adjacent to Private Arch while hiking the Devil’s Garden Loop.

Friday Fitness Hike

Bob, Linda, Michael, and JoAnne hiked the North and Verde Trails on June 6. Bob tells me that they hiked somewhat over five miles that day.
